The government of Ecuador and EUROFRONT analyse the country's challenges regarding cross-border security
From 11 to 15 October, the government of the Republic of Ecuador received a delegation from the EUROFRONT team, a programme financed by the European Union, in order to hold meetings with government authorities and visit the Rumichaca border crossing. This crossing is located between the cities of Ipiales, Colombia and Tulcán in Ecuador and was designated as a pilot location for the development of this programme.

The EUROFRONT team met regional authorities in Lima, Puno and Desaguadero to lay the foundations for the joint work they will carry out on the Peruvian-Bolivian border. Local migration experts and representatives of the Ministry of the Interior underlined the positive effects that such collaboration should have in terms of border management and the fight against human trafficking and smuggling.
Paraguay and the EUROFRONT team work together to draft protocols for cross-border surveillance
From 8 to 17 September, part of the EUROFRONT team travelled to Paraguay to share knowledge and experiences on cross-border surveillance and the operating rules in place at a police cooperation centre. Two specific activities were carried out simultaneously, one on Cross-Border Surveillance and the other related to the Organisation and Operation of Internal Rules.
Authorities from Paraguay and Brazil highlight the role of EUROFRONT in improving the management of the Triple Border
From 26 July to 2 August, Paraguay and Brazil border management experts from the EUROFRONT-Component 1 programme. The host authorities highlighted the importance of this European Union-financed cooperation programme as support for state entities specialised in security and the fight against transnational crime in the Triple Frontier region.
Police cooperation between Europe and Latin America, key to fighting cross-border crime
Today we finished the study visit to the Bi-National Police Cooperation Centre in Paso Canoas between Costa Rica and Panama. Since 23 March, delegations from partner countries Colombia and Ecuador have witnessed the good practices implemented in Paso Canoas through experts working at the Rumichaca Border Crossing in order to adapt them to their respective territories.
